Steel Bit - (2.5mm)

A 2.5mm twist drill bit for steel and other metals. At the fine end of the range, this size lives mostly in two jobs: drilling pilot holes so a larger bit runs true rather than wandering off its centre punch, and drilling the tapping hole for small threads. Also used for cable and instrument work, thin sheet, name plates, model and repair work, and anywhere a fixing is genuinely tiny. Bits this slim snap easily and give almost no warning - keep the drill perpendicular, use a low speed and light steady pressure, and never try to lever a stuck bit sideways. A centre punch mark before starting is worth the ten seconds it takes. A drop of oil keeps the cutting edge alive on steel.
