Spirit Level - (10-inch)

A ten-inch spirit level. Short levels solve a problem long ones cannot: fitting inside a cupboard, across a socket box, along a bracket or shelf cleat, on a door frame rebate, or into any space where a metre level simply will not go. What you give up is accuracy over distance - a short level reads the ten inches it touches, so a wall that bows between two points will still read true on both. Trades keep both lengths for exactly that reason. Used constantly in electrical second fix, cabinet fitting, tiling, appliance installation and general fixing. Check it against a known level surface occasionally, and read the bubble square on rather than at an angle, which is where most errors come from.
