Silicone - Black

Black silicone sealant in a cartridge. Colour is chosen to disappear, and black disappears where clear cannot: against dark aluminium and powder-coated frames, black rubber seals and gaskets, dark tile and worktop, vehicle and machinery glazing, and roofing and flashing details where a clear or white bead would show as a bright line across the work. It stays flexible after curing, which is what lets it absorb the movement between materials that expand at different rates - the movement that cracks rigid filler and lets water through. Cut the nozzle no wider than the joint, run the bead in one pass and tool it before it skins. Clean the joint back to sound material first; silicone will not bond to old silicone or to grease.
