Cavalry self-drilling screws, half an inch long, with a truss head. The head is the point of this one: broad and low, it presents far more bearing surface than a standard head, so it clamps thin sheet and soft material without the head pulling straight through - which is exactly what happens when an ordinary screw is driven hard into light gauge steel or board. Short and wide suits steel stud framing where track meets stud, fixing thin sheet to sheet, plasterboard onto light steel, ducting seams, and trims and flashings where a proud head would foul the next layer. The point drills its own hole as it drives, so nothing is pre-drilled. Stop as soon as the head seats flush.
