Hex nuts in 8mm, sold one at a time. A nut is the least interesting thing in a hardware shop and the one that stops a job dead when it is missing: a bolt without its nut is a piece of steel, and a nut of the wrong thread pitch will start and then bind halfway. Eight millimetres is the everyday metric size, matching the M8 bolts, studs, rawl bolts and roofing fixings used on brackets, machine mountings, gate hardware, frames and equipment. Buying them loose means taking the count the job needs plus a couple, which is usually the right approach - nuts are dropped and lost at a rate no other fastener matches. Use a washer under the nut on soft or slotted material.
