MDF Screw - (5 x 70)

Cavalry MDF screws in gauge 5, 70mm long - the longest and heaviest board screw on our shelf. The gauge step up from 4 gives a thicker shank and more thread to grip with, and seventy millimetres reaches through a thick panel and well into the piece behind. That suits the heavy end of joinery: wardrobe and kitchen carcass built from thick board, worktop and counter framing, fixed shelving carrying real weight, staircase and built-in furniture, and anywhere a joint is structural rather than decorative. In board this long a screw wants a pilot hole near an edge, cutting thread notwithstanding, or the panel will still split. Countersink so the head pulls flush and clamp the joint tight before driving.
