MDF Screw - (5 x 100)

Cavalry MDF screws in gauge 5, one hundred millimetres long - the longest board screw on our shelf. A hundred millimetres goes far beyond ordinary carcass work and into the joints that carry real weight: thick worktop and counter framing, built-in furniture fixed back to studs or battens, staircase and platform assembly, doubled panels and packed-out build-ups, and heavy fixed shelving. At this length a pilot hole is not optional near an edge, cutting thread or not, because the screw has enough purchase to split a panel along its whole length before it seats. Clamp the joint tight before driving, and countersink so the head pulls flush rather than crushing its way in.
