MDF Screw - (4 x 50)

Cavalry MDF screws in gauge 4, 50mm long. Board is the material that punishes the wrong screw: drive an ordinary wood screw into the edge of MDF or chipboard and the fibres simply part, leaving a split panel and a fixing that holds nothing. An MDF screw has a slimmer shank and a sharper, deeper thread that cuts rather than wedges, so it pulls the joint tight without swelling the board around it. At 50mm it handles the standard carcass work of the joinery trade - fixing sides to tops, backs into rebates, rails and cleats, shelving and cabinet assembly. Countersink properly so the head sits flush rather than crushing the surface, and pilot the edge on hard board even though the screw is made to avoid it.
