A 10mm masonry drill bit from Hilt, 160mm long. This is the size drilled for steel anchors rather than plastic plugs, and the size where a bit giving up halfway is genuinely expensive: an anchor hole abandoned at two thirds depth cannot simply be moved along, because the fixing pattern is set by the bracket or base plate bolted over it. Paying a little more for a branded tip is insurance against exactly that. Used with hammer action in concrete, dense block and stone for machinery bases, structural brackets, gate posts, handrails and racking. Clear the hole often, keep the drill square, and check depth against the anchor rather than guessing. Our unbranded 10mm bit remains the cheaper choice for occasional work.
