A masonry drill bit of 12mm diameter and 160mm length, unbranded. Twelve millimetres is the hole size for large expansion and chemical anchors - the fixings used under machine beds, structural brackets, heavy gate posts, roller shutter tracks and floor-bolted racking. It sits below the Hilt bit of identical size on price, and for a handful of holes it will do the same work; where somebody is drilling anchor holes all week, the branded tip generally holds its edge longer. Either way, a bit this wide needs a drill with serious hammer energy behind it. Clear the hole frequently, keep the drill square, and mark your depth on the bit before starting so the anchor seats properly rather than standing proud.
