Hammer Screwdriver - Combined (4-inch)

A four-inch combined hammer screwdriver - a driver with a steel cap and a through shaft, made to be hit. That is the whole design: an ordinary screwdriver struck on the handle splits it, while this one takes the blow and transmits it straight down the shaft, which shocks a seized or painted-over screw loose and drives the tip deeper into the recess so it grips instead of slipping. Used on rusted machine screws, painted hinge and lock fixings, screws in old timber, and anything a driver alone rounds off. It also doubles as a light punch and pry when nothing better is to hand. Four inches is the short pattern, easy to keep in a pouch. Strike it squarely with a hammer, not with the side of a spanner.
