Gypsum Screw - (6 x 1.5-inch)

Cavalry gypsum screws in gauge 6, 1.5 inches long. This is the workhorse length of a gypsum job: long enough to pass through a standard sheet and bite properly into the stud behind, short enough not to punch through into services or the far face. The bugle head is the detail that matters - it pulls itself flush and dimples the paper without tearing it, which is what lets the joint be filled and sanded invisible. The thread is coarse and sharp so it starts without a pilot hole and drives fast under a screwdriver bit. Used across ceiling and partition work, dry lining, boxing in and bulkheads. Space them along the studs rather than driving fewer and harder; a board held by too few screws crazes at the joints later.
