Glass Cutter - Blue (oil)

A blue oil-fed glass cutter. Glass is not cut so much as scored and broken: the hardened wheel scratches a controlled line into the surface, and the sheet is then snapped along it. The oil reservoir in the handle is what separates this from a dry cutter - a continuously lubricated wheel runs smoother, scores more evenly and lasts many times longer, which is why glaziers use oil-fed cutters and why a dry one frustrates anybody cutting more than a pane or two. Used by glaziers, framers, aluminium fabricators, mirror and shopfront installers, and anyone cutting glass shelving to size. Score once in a single confident pass and snap immediately; running the wheel back over a score line ruins both the cut and the wheel.
