Flat Wood Bit - 6pcs Set

A six-piece set of flat wood bits, also called spade bits. Buying a set rather than single bits matters here more than with most tools, because the diameter needed is dictated by whatever has to pass through the hole - a cable bundle, a pipe, a conduit, a dowel - and that changes from job to job and often mid-job. Six of the common sizes covers nearly all of it. Spade bits bore through timber far faster than augers and cost a fraction of hole saws, at the price of a rougher hole, which is irrelevant when the hole will be buried in a stud or a joist. Drill until the centre point breaks through the far side, then finish from that side to avoid tearing a ragged exit.
