An 18mm flat wood bit, also called a spade bit. A flat blade with a centre point, it bores through timber far faster than an auger and costs a fraction of a hole saw, at the price of a rougher hole - which does not matter at all when the hole is going to be hidden. That is exactly what it is used for: running cable and conduit through joists, studs and noggins, passing pipe through timber framing, drilling out for bolts and dowels, and making clearance holes in formwork and temporary work. Eighteen millimetres passes most domestic cable bundles and small pipe. Drill from one side until the point breaks through, then finish from the other to avoid tearing a ragged exit.
