A digital multimeter in the large body size. Where a neon tester only tells you whether something is live, a multimeter tells you how live, and a great deal more besides: voltage on a circuit, current being drawn, resistance and continuity through a conductor, and on most meters whether a fuse or a winding is intact. That turns guesswork into diagnosis. Used by electricians on installation testing and fault finding, by appliance and electronics repairers, by solar and battery installers checking panel and cell voltages, and by motor and generator technicians. A larger body means a bigger display and sturdier terminals, which matters on site rather than at a bench.
