A cordless drill driver from Makita, running at 20 volts. Cordless changed how most drilling and screwdriving actually happens: no cable to run out to a socket, no extension across a walkway, and a tool that can be carried up a ladder or into a ceiling void in one hand. Twenty volts is the general-purpose class - enough for drilling timber, board and light steel, and for driving the gypsum, MDF, roofing and general screws a fit-out gets through, while staying light enough to hold up all day. It is not a substitute for a hammer drill in concrete or a corded machine on heavy continuous work.
